ECONOMY & MARKETS

  T’was the Night Before Christmas
~Dent Style~ By Shannon Sands (and Rodney Johnson), with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore

T’was the night before Christmas, and nothing could be heard,
There was no one in the office, not even a bird (Go Ravens!);
The stockings were hung by the copier with care,
In hopes that Dow 6,000 soon would be there.

Most of the editors were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of profits danced in their heads.

I in my sweater, up here in the snow,
While Harry wore sunglasses, down in Puerto Rico...

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
That I sprang from my desk chair to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The street lights and car lights glaring on Charles Street created a glow,
Giving the luster of gold to objects below.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the President-Elect bellowing promises out his rear.

That orange old guy, so lively and thick,
We knew in a moment his term would be quick.

But on news of his win, the markets just rose.
More rapid than eagles, support for him grows.

When I got Harry on the phone and gave him the news,
He used a few choice words to tell me his views.
Harry whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
He told me their efforts would all be in vane!

"Not Pence! Not Yellen! Not Mnuchin! Not Ross!

Not Tillerson! Nor Puzder! Certainly not their boss!
Not Perry! Nor Bannon, nor Cohn or anyone!

They can’t stop this correction, it’s all demographics, it can’t be undone!
This can’t be fixed by cutting up trade deals or building a wall,
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away y’all!"

It’s Christmas Eve… we can all wish, can’t we?

Before we turn off our computers, finish wrapping the gifts, and pour ourselves some eggnog, let’s take a quick look at what we talked about this week…

On Monday, December 19, Charles sent Boom & Bust subscribers trade alerts, telling them to move their stop loss levels up to lock in the profits they’ve already made on three stocks in our model portfolio. We’re up 24%, 23%, and 31% on the three (the latter, courtesy of our bond guru, Lance Gaitan, editor of Treasury Profits Accelerator). All three of these positions remain a hold.

As Charles said:

As we enter the last two weeks of the year, we really couldn’t ask for a better investment set up. Our major macro themes are firing on all cylinders, and most of our open recommendations are hitting new highs.

In the January issue of Boom & Bust, which we emailed to subscribers yesterday, Charles detailed the strategy for 2017.

And Harry presented a detailed forecast for the year, as well as an honest review of his successes and failures in 2016. It’s a bumper issue, so check it out now.

Charles also wrote to you with details on how to get 9.4% yield.

On Tuesday, December 20, John wrote to you about the impact potentially dangerous assumptions about policies have had on investor sentiment. It’s no secret that the market has taken off like a rocket ship since the election. The move in small-cap stocks in particular has been the strongest in nearly three decades. But, now that the move has happened, is the market ahead of itself?

And Adam issued a trade alert to his Cycle 9 Alert subscribers to “ride the rally!” Of course, Adam is all about identifying the hot sectors and moving with the trends in three-month spurts, as they roll and roil. His successes this year speak for themselves. We’ve still got a few openings left for those interested in accessing Adam’s research – both Cycle 9 Alert and his new service, codenamed Project V – as well as the work from ALL of our other gurus, subscription-free. Given that we only had room for 97 people, I don’t know how much longer those spots will be available, so grab one for yourself now.

On Wednesday, December 21, John asked a good question: Why are some CEOs earning 335-times more than their own employees? Our latest infographic has the answer, so check it out.

After that, we began to wind down for the holidays… Next week, each of our editors will look back at 2016. Ben will start us off with a trip back to the future.

Until then, Merry Christmas to all… and to all, a good night!

Shannon
